When passion is bigger than challenge: Kaviyarasu’s success

P. Kaviyarasu, a sixth-grade student from Panchayat Union Middle School, Kozhipuliyur, Tamil Nadu, achieved an inspiring milestone by securing first place at the district level in the Environmental Awareness Exhibition. Organized by the Tiruvannamalai District National Green Corps and the Eco Club, the event brought together students from 40 schools to showcase innovative projects promoting sustainability. Kaviyarasu’s project on waste management and the 4R principle: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, stood out among the entries, earning him a cash prize of ₹5,000 and a Certificate of Excellence.

The exhibition celebrated student efforts to combat plastic pollution and encourage eco-friendly practices. Kaviyarasu’s project, featuring creative ways to repurpose non-biodegradable waste and thoughtful posters advocating reduced plastic usage, reflected not just his creativity but also the strong academic foundation he has built over time.

Behind this success story lies a crucial pillar: his engagement in the online classes and volunteer-driven learning platform. As an active participant in our digital classroom, he has built a strong academic foundation in science, and the conceptual understanding has played a crucial role in enhancing his skills and confidence. Beyond his recent success, Kaviyarasu has also been an enthusiastic participant in events such as the BRAINIAC AI Competition and the Science Day Celebration hosted by eVidyaloka. His passion for STEM is reflected in his projects, where he continuously explores new ideas, striving to innovate and improve.

Kaviyarasu’s achievements do not come easy, considering his humble background. Kaviyarasu faces his share of challenges.His parents, who work as daily wage laborers and run a small roadside eatery, strive to provide the best education for him and his younger siblings. Kaviyarasu needs to balance between his responsibilities at home and school. Yet, with focus, resilience, and the right support system, he continues to transform these challenges into stepping stones. He is highly regarded by his teachers and peers for his dedication to learning and his enthusiasm for participating in school activities.

Kaviyarasu’s achievement is not just a personal victory but a powerful example of what becomes possible when passion meets opportunity.
