"With the right support, even the most distant dreams can turn into daily achievements."
Swayam Sai Das, a 7th-grade student at Lal Bahadur Government High School in Phulnakhara, Odisha, once found himself struggling to keep pace with his education. Limited access to quality teaching resources, combined with an understaffed school environment, made subjects like Science and English particularly challenging. Despite his strong inner motivation, the lack of individual attention often left him feeling disconnected and discouraged.
Regular attendance at school was another hurdle. Lessons often failed to engage him, and without the right support system, Swayam found it difficult to stay motivated. The odds seemed stacked against him, and his dreams of progressing academically began to seem more distant with each passing day.
Everything changed when eVidyaloka’s Digital Classroom Program was introduced at his school, supported by the Infosys Foundation. For the first time, Swayam had access to high-quality, consistent teaching through online classes. The lessons were engaging, structured, and designed to make complex topics accessible and interesting. And the online Volunteer Teachers were a blessing in disguise.
With this new support, Swayam’s attendance improved dramatically. He began coming to school every day without fail, looking forward to his Science and English classes. Not only did he attend, but he also participated actively—asking questions, sharing ideas, and growing more confident in his abilities. The consistent guidance from volunteer teachers helped unlock the potential that had always been within him.
Today, Swayam is a shining example of what is possible when opportunity meets determination. He is not only catching up on his studies but thriving, setting an example for his peers with his enthusiasm, discipline, and eagerness to learn. His journey shows how technology, when thoughtfully implemented, can bridge educational gaps and offer students in remote areas the same quality of learning as those in urban settings.
Swayam’s transformation has been deeply inspiring for his teachers, classmates, and the broader school community. It stands as a reminder that every child has the potential to succeed when given the right tools and support.
The entire school community, including Headmaster Shivaparasad Pal, extends their heartfelt gratitude to eVidyaloka, the Infosys Foundation, and the Odisha Rising Foundation for making a lasting difference.
Through collective efforts, students like Swayam are not just dreaming bigger—they are turning their dreams into reality, one class at a time.
