Education is not just about acquiring knowledge—it’s about applying that knowledge to solve real-world problems. At eVidyaloka, students are not just learning; they are taking action to bring meaningful change to their communities. Through initiatives like EDGE (Empowering Dreams Through Goalsetting Effectively) and NSIC (National Student Innovation Challenge), students have developed projects that address key societal challenges and make a lasting impact.
These initiatives are more than competitions—they are platforms where students turn ideas into reality, proving that young minds can drive change when given the right guidance. Here are two inspiring stories of students whose projects are making a difference.
In the small town of Kamalapuram, Telangana, two students from ZPHS Kamalapuram, Vijay Sai and Lakshmi Prasanna, saw a problem they couldn’t ignore—several of their peers had dropped out of school. Determined to make a difference, they participated in Project EDGE (Empowering Dreams Through Goalsetting Effectively), an initiative by eVidyaloka, and chose to work on a “Back to School” campaign.
With guidance from their class assistant, Ashwini, they visited the homes of these dropout students, engaging in heartfelt conversations with both the children and their families. They emphasized the importance of education, the doors it could open, and how missing out on schooling could impact their future. Their dedication and persistence paid off when eight students, who had previously abandoned their studies, decided to return to school.
The impact of their efforts rippled beyond these eight students. Their campaign inspired their school community, proving that young changemakers have the power to shape a better future for themselves and others.
At GHPS Krishnagiri Colony in Karnataka, students Samarth and Rajesh were deeply concerned about the impact of unclean water and poor sanitation on their community. As part of the National Student Innovation Challenge (NSIC) 2024-25, they took on the challenge of addressing this critical issue.
Their research led them to understand how waterborne diseases are caused by contamination and the devastating effects they can have on human health. Armed with this knowledge, they began making small but meaningful changes—ensuring cleanliness around their homes and preventing water stagnation. More importantly, they took the initiative to educate their parents and neighbors about the dangers of polluted water. Seeing the transformation in their children’s awareness, the parents felt a deep sense of pride.
But Samarth and Rajesh didn’t stop there. They spread awareness beyond their homes by designing posters that highlighted the importance of water conservation, sanitation, and the health hazards of contaminated water. These posters were placed in their school and surrounding areas, encouraging others to adopt cleaner and more responsible practices.
Within their school, they encouraged their classmates to avoid wasting water and to maintain hygiene. Their leadership inspired their peers, and soon, they had a team of students working together to keep the school premises clean. This project not only deepened their understanding of environmental issues but also helped them develop essential skills in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Through their participation in NSIC, Samarth and Rajesh learned that small actions can lead to big changes. Their journey became a testament to how young minds, when equipped with knowledge and motivation, can drive real impact in their communities.
These two projects—whether focused on bringing students back to school or improving sanitation—demonstrate how education can drive real change.
Vijay Sai and Lakshmi Prasanna proved that students can inspire their peers to return to school.
Samarth and Rajesh showed that simple actions can create community-wide awareness on health and sanitation.
At eVidyaloka, students don’t just learn—they lead. These projects serve as reminders that when young minds are empowered with the right opportunities, they can transform society for the better.
