At eVidyaloka, we believe in the transformative power of education. The heart of our work lies in the dedication of our volunteers, who selflessly give their time and skills to inspire young minds.
Their stories serve as a reminder of how small efforts can lead to big changes. Here are a few reflections from our volunteers:
For Neeshu Gupta, being a volunteer teacher with eVidyaloka has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. She’s been able to teach Math to students in rural India through the power of online learning. Neeshu reflects, “Teaching through eVidyaloka is not just about delivering lessons; it’s about creating an engaging and interactive environment that sparks curiosity.”
Her journey began with the challenge of connecting with students virtually, but it soon turned into a strength. Through her innovative teaching methods and the use of technology, Neeshu was able to make complex concepts easier to understand. The students’ resilience and eagerness to learn, despite their limited resources, inspired her deeply.
Neeshu’s work with eVidyaloka not only made a difference in her students’ lives, but it also transformed her own, making her more empathetic and resourceful. “Each session wasn’t just about teaching; it was about empowering these young minds with the tools they need to dream bigger and achieve more.”
Aripaka Swathi has been an enthusiastic volunteer with eVidyaloka, teaching speed arithmetic and making Math engaging for children in rural areas. She uses creative real-life examples, such as the path of rockets, to help students see the practical application of equations. By creating an interactive classroom environment, where every student is called upon to solve problems, Swathi ensures that every child stays engaged.
She also emphasizes building rapport with students, asking about their day and their personal goals, which encourages them to share their thoughts and doubts openly. Swathi says, “I always wanted to help bright students who can't afford quality educational methods. With eVidyaloka, I feel satisfied that I am helping them.”
Smita Kundoo has been a dedicated volunteer with eVidyaloka for nearly a year, teaching English to students from Badhokar, Hatta, and Bidauri in Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Smita describes the students as “naughty, spirited, and incredibly eager to learn,” and she uses a variety of creative methods to make learning English fun. Through storytelling, simple sentences, and poems on relatable topics, Smita captures her students' attention and fosters a love for learning.
For Smita, teaching goes beyond academics—she sees it as a way to build a brighter future for these children. She shares, “It is deeply satisfying to contribute to their academic growth and overall development. I wish these little munchkins all the best in life.”
Akhiladevi Kumaran, a seasoned educator with experience in both IT and teaching, has found a new source of joy and fulfillment as an eVidyaloka volunteer. Since 2019, she has been volunteering in a variety of subjects, including English, Math, and Science, as well as during Summer Camps. Despite her career success in Chennai and the UAE, Akhiladevi finds the moments spent with her students in digital classrooms to be priceless.
She recalls the joy of watching children not only absorb new knowledge but also reflect on and apply what they’ve learned. “The amount of joy interacting with children in a digital classroom is beyond words... The smiles I have gathered as a volunteer in eVidyaloka are priceless.”
These testimonials highlight the diverse and enriching experiences that eVidyaloka volunteers encounter. From teaching Math and English to nurturing curiosity and building rapport, each volunteer brings their unique skills and compassion to the classroom. More importantly, they all share a common goal: to create opportunities for children in rural India, empowering them to reach their full potential.
The impact of these volunteers goes beyond the subjects they teach. It’s the inspiration they instill, the curiosity they spark, and the confidence they build in their students that truly matters. As Neeshu, Swathi, Smita, and Akhiladevi's stories show, volunteering with eVidyaloka is not just about teaching—it's about changing lives and creating a brighter future for children who deserve the best.
At eVidyaloka, we’re proud of the dedicated volunteers who make this journey possible. Their efforts remind us that even in the face of challenges, education has the power to change the world, one child at a time.
