How does the partnership with eVidyaloka works

eVidyaloka Trust is registered non-profit Trust, based out of Bangalore. Our Vision is To Create A KNOWLEDGEABLE & EMPOWERED RURAL INDIA THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION. We strive to achieve with a Mission of - CONNECTING PASSIONATE VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE QUALITY EDUCATION FOR RURAL CHILDREN, using Technology.

Project Purpose & Description

Scenario: The quality of education of children studying in the Government Schools in rural Villages are quite poorly reflected in their learning levels. Hence the children going out of these schools undergo various social challenges. This poor quality of education is primarily due to shortage of quality Teachers in these villages, apart from various other reasons.

Solution: eVidyaloka addresses this gap by connecting Teaching Volunteers of high quality from across the world with the rural Villages; using Digital Classroom technology. Subjects taught are Science, Mathematics and Basic English, based on State Board curriculum in the local language medium for 5th to 8th standard students. This will be a supplementary offering, in addition to the ongoing classes in the Government school.

How it works: A digital classroom with broadband internet, is setup in one of the classrooms in the Govt School. Volunteer Teachers from across different locations connect via Skype to teach the students. Both the students and teacher can see each other live, in real time and interact. eVidyaloka in the backend manages the complete running of the online virtual school operations. It involves identification of teachers, planning of time tables and curriculum, delivery of classes, Track student’s learning outcome, handle feedback etc.

A detailed Digital Classroom Handbook can be downloaded from the Annexures section, for your reference.
